Lollypop
It has been a while since I uploaded a new Tangled Line Art design. I have added ‘Lollypop’ to my Sashings Gallery, giving me a total of 10 designs in this gallery. Tangled Line Art designs are based on quilting blocks. A ‘sashing’ is another quilting terminology. Designs in my ‘Sashings’ gallery are based on quilt block designs separated by a ‘sashing’. Read more details about ‘sashings’ here.
When using sashings in quilting, the sashings can be used specifcally to separate blocks or alternatively, they can be integrated into the design so that you are not even aware that sashings have been used. The same principal can be seen within the designs in my ‘Sashings’ Gallery.
In the design ‘Night Vision’, the blocks and the sashings are obvious. You can read more about how this design was created here.
The design ‘Parallel-A-Square’ is also based on sqaure blocks with sashings at 90 degrees to each other – as in the Night Vision design. You could be forgiven for thinking that the sahings were drawn at 45 degress, however, this is not the case. Head over to my post on ‘Parallel-A-Square’ to see how this design was created.
Looking at ‘Lollypop’, I feel it tends to lie half way between the two extremes. Generally, in a quilt using a basic blocks and sashings setting, the blocks within the design would be considered to be the focal point. In this design, the pink cross within the sashings of Lollypop is the focal point that draws you into the design.
