Parallel-A Square
Parallel-A-Square is the newest entry in my ‘Sashings’ series.
Back in the first blog post about the ‘Sashings’ series, I mentioned that within a quilt top, a ‘sashing’ may be obvious within a design. I also said the the ‘sashing’ could be integrated into the desing so that it is not so obvious.

Parallel-A-Square most definitely falls into the later category 🙂 That is, it isn’t obvious where the sashing are or indeed, that there are sashings within the design. In this design, each block is 6″ x 6″ and the sashings are all 2″ wide. The total design is 26″x 18″
The images on the right show the Original block and the overall layout of the design with the blocks in a 2 x 3 grid format.

One thing I love about this design is that is has a very obvious diagonal ‘slant’ though hte initial outline was very obviously drawn ‘square’. I also love the fact that the ‘sashings’ are not at all obvious – though they are there:)
There are also two very distinct ‘shapes’ visible within this design. The following close-up shows the detail of these two areas.
